overgrowth of whispers

‘Overgrowth of whispers’ is a publication design project based on a supplied text from Susan Krasmann's academic journal, "Secrecy and the force of truth: countering post-truth regimes."

The brief involved designing a visually impactful publication layout and supporting imagery for an academic journal, effectively conveying the complex ideas and themes discussed in the text.

The text explores the concept of post-truth regimes blurring the lines between true and false within political debates. It explores how these regimes mimic secrecy by constantly making claims without disclosing the genuine content, leading to uncertainty about what is true or false.

Throughout the publication parasite imagery permeates the pages, disrupting the layouts and intertwining itself with the text and visual elements. An organic and slightly unsettling typeface 'infects' the sans serif typefaces, symbolising the intrusion of falsehood into factual information. The design depicts a parasitic entity growing out of control, eventually infiltrating the publication itself.
